University of Chicago Death Gets EMTALA Citation:Apr 3, 2009 After months of being in the headlines over ED practices
that were designed to get the UC out of general hospital
operations and into high-paying areas of elective practice,
a death in the Emergency Room has resulted in a CMS
EMTALA violation citation according to a hospital press
release.

University of Chicago To Slash ED Capability:Mar 12, 2009 The plan would reportedly slash 24 beds out of 50 currently available for ED patients needing admission for general medical care and 9 out of 63 intensive care beds, and is expected to further extend the serious delays for patients in the UC Emergency Department. My Comments To The Feds:Jun 10, 2008 Following the law and the interpretation standard provided by the Court, it is clear that no limitations are present or implied on "where" the patient is physically located, "what" the patient's status is on the books of the hospital, or any other condition other than the criteria for transfer found in the law itself.
