A hospital security guard, Monte Ruby,  died from injuries sustained  Saturday when an ED patient in police custody attacked him.

Springfield, MO -- A hospital security guard, Monte Ruby,  died from injuries sustained  Saturday when an ED patient in police custody attacked him.  The lethal injury resulted from a kick to the head, news reports indicate. 

The incident reportedly occurred at Springfield's Cox North emergency department where Jeffrey Bolden was taken by police for treatment of minor injuries he had received after fleeing police and being subdued by a K-9 unit.
       
Bolden is reported in police custody, initially charged with felony assault on Ruby.
