An air medical helicopter from Mercy Health – North Iowa, out of Mason City, IA, crashed Wednesday night killing all three crew members. The flight was responding to a call when the craft went down near Ventura, Iowa. Details of the crash are not yet available.
The crash comes less than a month after a similar crash involving the REACT air medical helicopter from Rockford Health System, Rockford, IL. That crash also claimed the lives of all three crew members aboard while responding to a transfer request in Lee County, IL. Initial reports suggest weather and possible rotor icing were involved in the REACT crash.
